Trojans Earn First Win of the Season Over Trevecca Nazarene

NASHVILLE, TN -- The volleyball team pulled out their first win of the season over tournament hosts Trevecca Nazarene University 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-22) in day two of the Ray Thrasher Classic.

The Trojans finished out the third set with a 9-0 run to come back and win. The lone set Trevecca took came when they were hitting .538 with 15 kills.

"Today was a good win for the team," head coach Todd Hay said. "Several different players stepped in at crucial moments and gave us a lift. Especially proud of Jacey, Benny and Sophie. That set 3 rally was huge for us. Gave us a shot of confidence. Now we shift our focus to the conference opener on the road."

Senior Brantley Chipley had a career-high 14 kills on a .367 hitting percentage. She tacked on four blocks.

Sophomore Emily Campbell came up with a career-high of her own with 11 kills on a .304 hitting percentage. She added one service ace and three blocks.

Junior Katy Smith had 12 digs and five service aces.

The Trojans open conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 10th at 6 p.m. as they head to Newberry College.
