SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Anderson's men's cross country team dominated the field at the Southeast Regional Preview on Saturday morning, handedly winning the meet with all five scoring Trojans finishing in the Top-15 runners. A full list of results can be found here.
"The men put together an excellent performance today at the Regional Preview," said Director of Cross Country/Track & Field, Kevin Eagle. "They each had goals in mind and executed the plan the best they could today."
Winning the race by more than thirty seconds, Elliot Dotson (Greenville, S.C.) posted a time of 24:21 to secure his career-first meet win. Just behind Dotson, Spain Vaughan (Greer, S.C.) finished second overall with a time of 24:54.
Rounding out the scoring for the Trojans were William Cronin (Lexington, S.C.), Angel Galan (Santa Marta De Tormes, Spain) and Joey Tindale (Rock Hill, S.C.) who finished 11th (25:29), 12th (25:32) and 14th (25:43) respectively. Not far behind, Ty Nelson (Moore, S.C.) and Jack Barrett (Greenville, S.C.) ran for 25:51 to finish 19th and 20th.
"I could talk about almost every individual separately, today was all about them!"
The No. 22 Trojans finished first in the field on Saturday, outperforming No. 10 Montreat and the reigning National Champions and SAC preseason favorites, No. 1 Wingate.
"This will be the same course we toe the line at in seven weeks for a chance to punch our ticket to Nationals," added Eagle. "Majority of the region competed today, so this sets us up well. We know a lot can happen in seven weeks, but we also know that we have so much growth left to do ourselves to be even better than today. Our goal is to simply get stronger each week so that we're ready to compete with the best teams in the NCAA come November."
Anderson's next competition is October 12th at the Lewis Crossover Invite in Romeoville, Ill.
