ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson's men's soccer team moves to 2-1-1 on the season after putting up five goals in tonight's victory over Montevallo.
"First win at home, and it was a good one," said Head Men's Soccer Coach Michael Zion. "The team played really well, building up some momentum, and it's great to see."
Trojan senior Diego Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) added three to his goal count for the season, scoring twice in the first ten minutes of action and securing his hat trick in the 68th minute for AU's fifth goal.
Also on the scoresheet for Anderson was graduate student Lukas Bos (Capelle Aan Den Ijssel, Netherlands) who recorded his first goal repping the Black and Gold, and freshman Juan Pablo Lepervanche (Caracas, Venezuela), who tallied his second goal of the season, burying one from the spot after a Falcon foul in the box.
Picking up assists in the contest were Lepervanche, Emmanuel Arkoh (Barcelona, Spain) and Pol Elias (Barcelona, Spain). The Trojans tallied 14 shots on the night, ten of which came on frame, and Franco Antoniolli Funes (Cordoba, Argentina) recorded a season-high four saves from ten shots faced, including a penalty kick.
"We are happy to start the week off right but have to go back to work tomorrow and prepare for a SAC battle on Saturday."
The Trojans return to conference action on Saturday, playing host to Mars Hill at Spero Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 6 PM.
