ANDERSON, SC – The volleyball team fell short in their home opener, suffering a 3-1 loss to Limestone University (2-3, 1-1 SAC) by scores of 17-25, 23-25, 25-15, 23-25. 

"We came out flat and weren't ready to compete," said head coach Todd Hay. "I've got to do a better job of having us ready for every match. Tomorrow night we will get back at it and work on improving the areas that need work. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us."

The Trojans struggled to hold momentum despite a big crowd in the Abney Athletic Center. They were hanging with the Saints statistically, but were suffering from their own unforced errors. They rode a much more efficient offense to their third set win, with a hitting percentage of .370. 

Senior Brantley Chipley came up big in the third and fourth sets when the Trojans needed her most, putting up eight of her 11 kills in those last two sets. She added six blocks on the day.

Sophomore Ellie Nieporte had 31 assists and a team-high 18 digs.

Sophomore Ava Reeves added 11 kills and an ace.

Sophomore Emily Campbell contributed eight kills while freshman Jacey Olsen had seven.

The Trojans will look to bounce back this Friday, Sept. 20th on the road when they head to Catawba College for another South Atlantic Conference matchup.
