EMORY, VA. – Anderson University women's soccer (3-1, 0-1 SAC) dropped its South Atlantic Conference season opener, 2-1 to Emory & Henry (2-1, 1-0 SAC) on Sunday afternoon at Fred Selfe Stadium.
With the game scoreless, Anderson was awarded a penalty kick in the 22
nd minute of action following a Wasp handball. The penalty kick was unsuccessful but junior
Catherine Nardella was able to find the back of the net just 40 seconds for her fourth goal of the season to give the Black and Gold the, 1-0, lead.
Emory & Henry tied the match in the 52
nd minute scoring the game-winner from distance in the 75
th minute. The Wasps victory was their first SAC win in program history.
Anderson out-shot Emory & Henry 20-to-8 with six and four shots coming on goal, respectively.

Arriel Frey logged 56 minutes in goal earning one save while senior
Macy McDufford recorded the final 34 minutes of play. McDufford was credited with a save.
Anderson returns to action when it hosts SAC opponent Mars Hills on Friday. Kick-off is slated for 7 pm.
