Carter Wit (Johns Creek, Ga.) tallied a quarterback hurry on the night, but was also able to keep the defensive touchdown streak going for the Black and Gold as he took a pick 22 yards down the field and into the end zone. Six Trojans recorded a trio of tackles on the evening as redshirt-freshman
Fuller Sims (Kershaw, S.C.) was the lone Trojan to record a sack, but he made it worth it, dropping the Panthers for a loss of 7 on the play.
It was just the sixth play of the contest when Anderson found the back of the end zone, with Wesley hitting Warthen-Carr for a 54-yard catch and run that put the Trojans up 7-0 early on. LaGrange was able to hold the Trojans to just a field goal on their next drive, with the two teams trading three-and-outs to wrap up the opening quarter with Anderson leading 10-0.
Campbell recorded his first of two touchdowns to kickoff the second quarter as he scampered in from five yards out to put the Trojans up 17-0. On the first play of the next Panthers drive, Wit was able to corral a pass at the line of scrimmage and take it 22 yards to the house to give the Trojans the 23-0 advantage. The Panthers were able to put a touchdown on the board in the waning minutes of the opening half, but Anderson responded in kind with a 17-yard reception from Beckett to go up 30-7 at the break.
Forcing a punt on LaGrange's opening possession of the second half, the Trojans responded by punching in a four-yard rush by Gunn up the middle of the offensive line to extend their advantage to 37-7. On the next drive for the Black and Gold, Campbell was able to tally his second rushing touchdown of the night as he broke through the defense on the left side for eight yards and a score to give the Trojans the 44-7 lead. The Panthers were able to add a touchdown to their tally in the fourth quarter, but the score ended in the Trojans favor, 44-14.
