ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University (3-0) women's soccer team has earned its third straight victory to start the 2024 campaign with a, 3-1, win over nonconference opponent Converse (1-2) on Wednesday evening at Spero Financial Field.
"I am proud of the team for the result tonight," said head coach
Sarah Jacobs. "It wasn't the prettiest soccer, but we were able to capitalize on our opportunities and set pieces."
"We have had a great start to the season and look forward to carrying the momentum into conference play this weekend," added Jacobs.
Despite being outshot 16 – to – 7 with eight of the 16 shots coming on goal, AU made the most of its shots with three of the four goals that were on target finding the back of the net.
Junior
Catherine Nardella remains dialed in scoring her third goal in as many games. Nardella scored the Trojans opening goal in the 20
th minute from a pass from junior
Camryn Woods. Sophomore
Madison Bowling and
Ashton Douty connected for Bowling's second career goal in the 33
rd minute.
Anderson carried a, 2-0, lead at the half with junior

Converse erased the clean sheet by scoring its lone goal in the 71
st minute of the contest when Hannah Liebig scored her second goal of the season. Liebig's goal was assisted by Skylar Lund.
Sophomore
Arriel Frey was credited with six saves in 76 minutes of action. Senior
Macy McDufford recorded one save in the final 14 minutes to help the Trojans earn the victory.
Anderson returns to action when it travels to South Atlantic Conference opponent Emory & Henry on Sunday. Kick-off is slated for 3 pm.
