ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans hosted former AU head coach Rob Miller's Valkyrie squad for a non-conference midweek matchup on Wednesday, dropping the first-ever contest between the two teams, 2-0.
While Anderson outshot Converse 16-8, recording six AU shots on goal to Converse's four, the Trojans were unable to find the back of the net. The Valkyries opened the scoring in the 12th minute, securing an insurance goal in the 58th. Leading the offense for the Trojans was senior forward Diego Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia), who tallied five shots, followed by Willi Thompson (Vizcaya, Spain) with three.
The physical matchup saw AU commit 12 fouls on the contest, conceding five yellow cards, while Converse notched nine fouls and earned six yellow cards.
The Trojans look ahead to Sunday for the South Atlantic Conference opener at Emory & Henry. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 PM.
