Wingate Takes Comeback Win Over Trojans

WINGATE, N.C. -- It was a tale of two halves for the Trojans as Wingate University got their first win of the season 83-74 on Wednesday night. Anderson moves to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the South Atlantic Conference with the loss.

"Tough one tonight. We got beat up inside and on the glass in the second half," head coach Jimmie Williams said. "Kendall Taylor played his tail off for Wingate. 40 minutes played and one assist short of a triple double. The last few times we've come here he's been the difference and he certainly was that tonight. Major credit to Wingate. We'll get back to work tomorrow to fix and clean up. I love this team."

The Trojans took a 39-30 lead in the first half on 44.1 percent shooting from the field. Coming out of the locker room, Wingate went on a 20-5 scoring run while Anderson's shooting dropped to 31.4 percent.

Austin Webb (South Point, Ohio) came up with 19 points, three assists and two steals. He shot 6-15 from the field and 5-6 from the line.

Cole Middleton (Atlanta, Ga.) dropped 13 points with a team-high six rebounds and three assists.

Sam Perez (Apex, N.C.) added 12 points and four rebounds while AJ Wright Jr. (Tampa, Fla.) came up with a team-high six assists, eight points and a career-high six steals.

Caleb McAbee (Saint Johns, Fla.) came off the bench for nine points and two rebounds.

The Trojans will look to bounce back on Saturday, Dec. 7 when they head to No. 18 Lincoln Memorial University for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
