Trojans Drop Tight Contest to No. 16 Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, TN -- The Trojans were just two points shy of upsetting No. 16 Lincoln Memorial University who remains undefeated in the South Atlantic Conference with the 73-71 win. Anderson moves to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the SAC.

"Proud of our team," head coach Jimmie Williams said. "Games like that decided by one play on the road against a tough opponent are what you want. Hard pill to swallow losing the way we did. Ennis made a tough shot, and he's a heck of a player. We'll grow from this for sure. Proud for the grit and toughness we showed tonight, especially on the defensive end in the second half."

The Trojans found themselves down 45-34 at the half after six lead changes, but they came out of the locker room on an 21-7 run to take their first lead of the half 55-52. They held the lead for five minutes and the lead changed four more times before the Railsplitters finished it off.

Dallas Jones (Gainesville, Fla.) dropped 15 points and a season-high eight rebounds in 24 minutes of play.

Cole Middleton (Atlanta, Ga.) tacked on 15 points of his own on 5-11 shooting and 3-5 shooting from deep with seven rebounds and three steals.

AJ Wright Jr. (Tampa, Fla.) had a well-rounded statline with seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Austin Webb (South Point, Ohio) added nine points and three rebounds.

Malachi Reeves (Lexington, S.C.) and Caleb McAbee (Saint Johns, Fla.) came off the bench for 11 and nine points respectively.

"We had big contributions from multiple guys off the bench tonight which was what helped us get the lead," Williams said. "Malachi, Caleb, and Ian were big for us in the second half. We have really needed more of a lift from our bench, so tonight was a good sign. I love this team."

The Trojans take on another ranked opponent when they host undefeated No. 24 Coker University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
