Puerto Rico – Anderson University women's basketball (7-6) began the game with a 10-0 run never looking back in its first game at the Puerto Classic against UPR Bayamon (0-5) defeating UPRB, 79-50, on Tuesday evening at UPRB Arena.

Jonathon Barbaree. "Defensively we were active and caused some good turnovers early to get us started. From there we did a great job establishing our inside presence."

Freshman
Rose Gravel scored a career-high 24 points and was one rebound shy of tying her career-high rebounds with 13. Gravel recorded her fourth double-double of the season playing just 22 minutes. Senior
Diamond McDowell netted 13 points and ripped down 10 rebounds to record her fourth straight double-double. Senior
Zamiya Passmore chipped in 12 points, chased down six rebounds and dished out four assists. All 13 Trojans saw at least seven minutes of action with 12-of-13 scoring at least two points.
Three players from UPRB shared team high honors with seven points apiece. Alanis Ventura added six rebounds while Franchesca Torres and Siuly Burgos grabbed four and three rebounds, respectively.
The Trojans out rebounded UPRB 51-29 while being credited with 18 assists and 14 steals in the Black and Gold's fourth straight win.
Anderson returns to action tomorrow when it squares off with Catholica University of Puerto Rico. Tip-off is slated for 4 pm.
