Trojans Fall to No. 21 Carson-Newman 95-92

ANDERSON, S.C. -- A solid offensive second half wasn't enough for the Trojans to top No. 21 Carson-Newman University on Saturday afternoon at home. Anderson moves to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in South Atlantic Conference play with the loss.

The Trojans went from shooting 43.2 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from deep in the first half to 57.8 percent and 63.6 percent from the same categories in the second half.

The two teams were tied at 35 going into the locker room, and the second half started with neither team able to gain control. The Eagles took a ten-point lead at 88-78 with 1:13 to play and the Trojans came charging back to nearly force overtime, but Carson-Newman pulled through at the line to secure the win.

Cole Middleton (Atlanta, Ga.) led the way with a season-high of both 26 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He drained four triples and added two blocks.

AJ Wright Jr. (Tampa, Fla.) tied his career-high of 16 points and flirted with a double-double with nine assists. He tacked on two steals and one block.

Austin Webb (South Point, Ohio) and Sam Perez (Apex, N.C.) dropped 14 points each. Perez was nearly perfect, going 7-9 from the field, with four assists and two rebounds. Webb contributed five rebounds and two steals.

Dallas Jones (Gainesville, Fla.) had nine points and four rebounds.

The Trojans are back on the road on Wednesday, Dec. 4th to take on Wingate University at 7:30 p.m.
