Trojans Suffer First Loss of the Season to Mars Hill

MARS HILL, N.C. -- Mars Hill University handed Anderson their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon 81-77 in a game that saw ten lead changes and four ties.

"Give them credit, they played hard and made tough shots down the stretch," said head coach Jimmie Williams. "Winning on the road is hard. I thought even after a slow start we settled in midway through the 1st half. We have to end the half better and we can't come out flat like that. A lot we can fix with this one, and that's not to take anything away from them. They earned it. We'll grow from this. I love this team."

The Trojans were right there with the Lions the whole game, but were unable to gain and hold control for an extended time. They went into the locker room down just 42-40.

The Lions went on an 8-1 run to start the second half and it took the Trojans the majority of the half to make up the ground.

They tied things up at 63 and took the lead with five minutes to play, and again at 68, but the Lions went on a 13-9 run to seal the win.

Jacksen Greco (Canton, Ga.) came off the bench for a season-high 15 points on five triples in 19 minutes of play. One of the five tied the game up at 20 in the first half and led to the Trojans getting their first lead a few possessions later.

Sam Perez (Apex, N.C.) tied his career-high 16 points to lead the Trojan offense on 6-10 shooting from the field and 4-8 three-point shooting. He added a career-high nine rebounds and four assists.

Cole Middleton (Atlanta, Ga.) came up with 12 points, a season-high seven rebounds and three steals.

AJ Wright Jr. (Tampa, Fla.) added 11 points for the Trojans while Austin Webb (South Point, Ohio) tacked on nine.

The Trojans head to Limestone University for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Tuesday, Nov. 26th.
