ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson men's soccer welcomed Carson-Newman to Spero Financial Field on Saturday afternoon, topping the Eagles 2-0 for their third-straight victory.
The Trojans got on the board early with a Lukas Bos (Capelle Aan Den Ijssel, Netherlands) goal in the 13th minute. Juan Pablo Lepervanche (Caracas, Venezuela) weaved through Eagle defenders before servicing the ball across the box, connecting with the head of Bos who easily slotted it into the net.
The scoreline remained 1-0 for only four minutes before Diego Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) recorded his seventh goal of the season, drilling one from just outside the goal box into the bottom right corner of the goal. Anderson took the 2-0 lead into halftime.
Carson-Newman picked up their offense in the second half, tallying 11 shots and five corner kicks in the period compared to three shots and no corner kicks in the first half. The Eagles were unable to penetrate the Trojan defense, however, and Anderson secured the 2-0 victory.
Anderson moves to 7-6-1 on the season and 6-4 in conference play. They will host Newberry on Wednesday (Nov. 6) to close out the regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
