Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- In their final road match of the season, Anderson men's soccer picked up a second-straight victory on Wednesday night, defeating Tusculum by a score of 1-0. With the win, the Trojans move to 6-6-1 on the season and 5-4 in league play.
Anderson's offense attacked from the opening whistle, tallying four shots and earning three corners in the first 15 minutes of play. The subsequent 20 minutes saw four more shots and three more corners for the Trojans, but the Black and Gold were unable to put one away in the opening half. The game remained scoreless going into the break.
The second half was a lot of back-and-forth between the Trojans and Pioneers, before AU slipped through a crack in the TU defense, scoring the game's lone goal in the 62nd minute. Working out of their defensive half, Anderson connected eight passes to work the ball up the length of the field. A service from Andres Giraldo (Greer, S.C.) connected with Diego Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia), who flicked the ball on to Jamie Round (Hartford, England). Round immediately headed the ball back to Jaramillo, who took a shot on frame. Tusculum's keeper deflected Jaramillo's shot directly to the feet of Lukas Bos (Capelle Aan Den Ijssel, Netherlands), who buried it into the back of the net for his second goal of the season.
Anderson was able to outlast Tusculum's efforts to equalize, and the Trojans secured three more road points with their fifth conference win.
The Trojans return home on Saturday (Nov. 2) for the first of two home games to wrap up the season. Anderson hosts Carson-Newman at 3:30 PM, with Senior Day festivities happening during halftime of the preceding women's match. The women's game kicks off at 1 PM.
