Trojans Drop 1-0 Heartbreaker to No. 11 Cobras

ANDERSON, S.C.--After holding No. 11 Coker scoreless for 75 minutes of play, Anderson men's soccer fell 1-0 following a Cobra free kick just outside the box.

The opening 20 minutes of the match saw three shots apiece from the Trojans and Cobras, before Coker's offense pulled away to outshoot Anderson 6-1 for the remainder of the half. Their efforts were matched by Anderson's defense, however, and the scoreline stood even at 0 going into the break.

The first half-hour of the second half was an even battle between the two teams, with each side recording three shots and one corner kick. The matchup took a turn when a contentious Trojan foul led to an Anderson ejection and Coker free kick. The Cobras took advantage of the opportunity, as the service found the head of a Coker player and sailed into the back of the net, giving the No. 11 Cobras a 1-0 lead.

The Trojans were ultimately unable to find an equalizer in the final 15 minutes of action, and Coker claimed the 1-0 victory.

AU hits the road for back-to-back away contests to round out the month, facing Lincoln Memorial next Saturday (Oct. 26) and Tusculum the following Wednesday (Oct. 30).
