ANDERSON, SC -- Though it was a quick three sets, the Trojans managed to wrack some impressive numbers as they swept Newberry College for their fifth-straight win. Sophomore
Emily Campbell came up with the second-best hitting percentage in a match in school history, swinging .722 with 13 kills on 18 attempts and no errors.
Anderson had control of the game from start to finish, fighting through some push back from the Wolves in the second set to still secure a comfortable win.Â
As a team, the Trojans continued their offensive improvement from earlier in the season, hitting .337 and an impressive .484 in the third set.
Sophomore
Ava Reeves had 12 kills with a .360 hitting percentage and added three aces.
Senior
Brantley Chipley had just one error on the night, coming up with seven kills and a .429 hitting percentage.Â
Freshman
Mia Bennett gave setter
Ellie Nieporte a break in the third set and came up with six assists and two digs.
"It was good to see everyone contribute in a positive way tonight," head coach
Todd Hay said. "When coaches make substitutions, we hope to see those players maintain or raise our team's level of play. I felt like our players were able to do that tonight. Happy with the win and look forward to a tough match tomorrow night with Emmanuel who is undefeated in their league."
The Trojans finish their four-game homestand tomorrow, Oct. 16th when they host nonconference opponent Emmanuel University at 7 p.m.
