EMORY, Va. – The Anderson University men's soccer team bounced back on the road at Emory & Henry College on Sunday (Oct. 2) as they picked up a 3-1 win in South Atlantic Conference play.

The Trojans entered the match on a four-game losing streak, trying to get back into the win column and earn three points. Meanwhile, the Wasps were searching for their first win of the season coming in at 0-9 overall, and 0-6 in SAC play.

Anderson came out clicking on all cylinders in the first half of play, winning the battle of possession which led to 11 total shot attempts in the first 45 minutes. In the 15th minute, Juan Jose Alvarez scored his third goal of the season. Lucas Goldberg found the back of the net for the first time in his freshman season, as Andres Osorio assisted on the goal for the Trojans. The Anderson defense of Ben Lemen, Tiago Perez, Yani Diagne, and Joao Martino controlled the Emory & Henry attack by not allowing a shot in the first half, going into intermission with the 2-0 lead.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the Trojans matched their shot total of 11 attempts. Andres Osorio continued to facilitate the offense, this time assisting on a goal by Pablo Sanz, his second of the season and third of the afternoon for the Trojans. In the 86th minute, the Wasps were able to get on the scoreboard as Louis Pereira-Scott scored off a free kick, deflecting off the hands of goalkeeper Amos Uber, who finished the match with one save. Anderson held on for the remaining four minutes, going on to win by the score of 3-1.

The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 5) when they travel to Greeneville, Tennessee to take on the Tusculum Pioneers. Video can be found on Flo Sports, with live stats on autrojans.com.
