Trojans Fall to No. 8 in NSCAA Southeast Region

Box Score

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Splitting last week's matches, highlighted by a key regional win over non-conference opponent UNC Pembroke, Anderson University men's soccer fell into a tie for eighth place in the National Soccer Coaches of America Association/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Southeast Poll, released Tuesday by the NSCAA.

The Trojans (9-3-2, 4-3-1 SAC) dropped two spots in the poll after being slotted sixth in last week's rankings. Anderson finds itself in a tie for eighth with Peach Belt Conference member Clayton State, as each team finished the week 1-1. AU joins three other South Atlantic Conference schools in the top 10 of the region, as Queens ranks second, behind only Young Harris. Wingate is in the No. 7 spot, while LMU, a team that defeated the Trojans in its most recent result, cracks the poll in 10th.

The PBC is strongly represented in the poll, as half of the top 10 are from the conference, including YHC, which is ranked No. 3 in the national poll. The Lions are currently 11-1 on the season with their only loss coming against Anderson.

Wednesday will mark the first NCAA Regional Rankings to be released this season. The NCAA rankings will be the deciding factor on a bid to the NCAA Tournament beginning on Nov. 14.

Following today's matchup with Brevard, the Trojans will prepare for a key conference contest with Wingate on Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff from the WU Soccer Complex is set for 7:30 p.m.
