KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Splitting last week's matches, highlighted
by a key regional win over non-conference opponent UNC Pembroke,
Anderson University men's soccer fell into a tie for eighth place
in the National Soccer Coaches of America Association/Continental
Tire NCAA Division II Southeast Poll, released Tuesday by the
NSCAA.
The Trojans (9-3-2, 4-3-1 SAC) dropped two spots in the poll
after being slotted sixth in last week's rankings. Anderson finds
itself in a tie for eighth with Peach Belt Conference member
Clayton State, as each team finished the week 1-1. AU joins three
other South Atlantic Conference schools in the top 10 of the
region, as Queens ranks second, behind only Young Harris. Wingate
is in the No. 7 spot, while LMU, a team that defeated the Trojans
in its most recent result, cracks the poll in 10th.
The PBC is strongly represented in the poll, as half of the top
10 are from the conference, including YHC, which is ranked No. 3 in
the national poll. The Lions are currently 11-1 on the season with
their only loss coming against Anderson.
Wednesday will mark the first NCAA Regional Rankings to be
released this season. The NCAA rankings will be the deciding factor
on a bid to the NCAA Tournament beginning on Nov. 14.
Following today's matchup with Brevard, the Trojans will prepare
for a key conference contest with Wingate on Saturday, Oct. 26.
