HARROGATE, Tenn. - Freshman defender Ludwig Nordin scored his
first goal of the season to give Anderson an early lead, but
Lincoln Memorial erupted for four second-half scores to outpace the
Trojans, 7-1, in a South Atlantic Conference men's soccer matchup
Saturday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Field.
Anderson (1-7-2, 1-2-1 SAC) suffered its third consecutive
setback, while Lincoln Memorial improved to 5-2-1 overall and 2-2
in league play.
Nordin notched his first collegiate goal in the fifth minute
after senior Zak Moss placed a corner kick in the box in front of
the goal and Nordin found the back of the net after the ball
deflected off LMU keeper Marcel Barwanietz.
But the Railsplitters posted seven unanswered goals to stay
undefeated at home this season, with Preseason All-SAC forward
Mario Pinto and freshman Pedro Villa leading the way, with each
scoring a pair of goals.
LMU outshot the Trojans, 27-6, on the afternoon and held a 9-2
advantage in corner kicks. Trojan goalkeeper Lukas Hesse recorded
five saves on the afternoon, but suffered the loss while
surrendering five goals, while freshman Devon Ashy notched three
saves and gave up a pair of scores.
LMU's Barwanietz recorded one save and earned the win.
Anderson returns to the friendly confines of Trojan Stadium on
Saturday, playing host to SAC foe Mars Hill. Kick-off versus the
Lions is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
