INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Anderson University men's soccer team
is ranked second in the Southeast Region by the NCAA Division II
Championship committee, as released by the NCAA Wednesday
afternoon.
The Trojans (13-2, 8-0 SAC), who have won a school-record 11
consecutive matches and clinched the South Atlantic Conference
regular-season title last weekend, remained in the second spot in
the NCAA's second weekly ranking.
Coker remained in the top spot with AU staying No. two, while
Flagler and Mars Hill flipped in the No. 3-4 spots and Tusculum,
which was unranked last week, moved into the eighth slot.
AU was tops in Tuesday's coaches poll as released by the NSCAA,
after earning two wins last week.
The NCAA rankings, which will be published weekly until the end
of the season, are used to determine seeding in the NCAA
Tournament. The Southeast Region, comprised of the South Atlantic
Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference,
will garner six spots in the NCAA Tournament, with the field
scheduled to be announced on Monday, Nov. 7.
The Trojans are at Erskine tonight, then close out their regular
season on Saturday with a Homecoming match-up versus Wingate when
the Trojans will put their 14-match home win streak on the line
versus the Bulldogs. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m. at Trojan
Stadium.
