ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson mens soccer team displayed its
potent offense again Friday night, scoring three goals in each half
to run past visiting Flagler, 6-1 in non-conference action at the
AU Soccer Field. "We were on fire tonight," said Anderson head
coach Rob Miller. "We are in a groove offensively right now and
scoring a lot of goals. We are playing with a lot of composure and
I think we pose a lot of problems for opposing teams." Anderson
(4-0) struck first when junior Zach Denson lifted a corner kick
from the left side into the box, finding teammate Lasse Sohrweide,
whose shot found the back of the net in just the sixth minute of
action. Senior Paulo Passini notched his fourth goal of the season
at the 29:06 mark with a header past Saints' keeper Matt Gilman -
the first game-winner for the forward this season, and less than a
minute later, freshman midfielder Jorgen Hals beat the FC defender
down the left side and collected his first career goal as a Trojan
to give AU some insurance. Freshman Ben Jones collected a pair of
goals early in the second frame and closed out the scoring by
blasting a penalty kick past Gilman late in the contest. Junior
Adrien Moufflet and sophomore Mark Smith also garnered assists in
the win. The Trojans hit the road for a contest at Peach Belt-foe
USC Aiken, on Wednesday, Sept. 9, with kick-off slated for 7 p.m.
at the "Pacer Pit."
