MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Behind sophomore Lasse Sohrweide's header
with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, 13th-ranked
Anderson finished the regular season by tying Mount Olive, 1-1, in
Conference Carolinas' men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at
Amon Field. The Trojans have already equaled last season's
school-record 12-win campaign, moving to 12-2-3 overall and 6-1-3
in the conference, while Mount Olive wrapped up the regular season
at 6-9-1 and 3-6-1. Anderson earned the fourth seed in next week's
conference tournament and will play host to the Coker Cobras on
Tuesday night. AU handed Coker a 2-0 setback on Oct. 24. The two
sets of Trojans battled to a scoreless draw over the first 45
minutes, but John Mendoza put Mount Olive on the scoreboard first
with an 18-yard shot in the 66th minute of action. With time
winding down in regulation, Sohrweide headed junior Adrien
Moufflet's corner kick past the Mount Olive defenders and keeper
Jamie Carano for the equalizer. Neither team was able to muster
much of an offensive threat in the two overtime frames, with AU
garnering the lone shot in the 104th minute. Anderson held a 22-8
advantage in shots, including a 12-3 edge in the second frame and
also tallied 11 corner kicks to the homestanding Trojans' two. "It
was a frustrating day," said Anderson head coach Rob Miller. "We
were very good at creating opportunities, but we had a hard time
finishing." The Trojans will put their 19-match home unbeaten
streak on the line Tuesday night as they host fifth-seeded Coker in
the first round of the conference tournament at the AU Soccer
Field. Kick-off versus the Cobras is scheduled for 7 p.m. Game Stats Season
