TROJANS ADVANCE! Secure Final Victory in SAC Championship Tournament Opening Round

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Softball (36-11, 17-5 SAC) dropped game two 3-8 before flipping the script to secure an 8-3 game three victory over No. 7 seed Wingate (27-20, 11-11 SAC), advancing to the South Atlantic Conference Championship Tournament Final Four.

The Bulldogs came out strong in game two, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. Senior Lauren Brakovec (Farragut, Tenn.) put the Trojans on the board with a single through the left side for freshman Kara Davis (Duncan, S.C.) to score. Wingate rallied, scoring five runs in the third. Back-to-Back doubles by senior Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.) and senior Kinsley Dunn (Central, S.C.) allowed Anderson to score two more runs, narrowing the margin 3-8. The Bulldogs claimed the victory after the Trojans failed to capitalize on key scoring opportunities, sending the series to a third game.

Game three flipped the script, as the Trojans plated three runs in just the first inning. Junior Kadence Barrick (Phenix City, Ala.) doubled to left center for senior Shelby Bandt (Ft. Valley, Ga.) to score while senior Jenna Davis (Anderson, S.C.) singled up the middle to bring Barrick home. In the top of the third, Carson Hobbs sent a statement homer to right field, extending the Trojan's led to 4-0. After a scoreless two innings for Wingate, the Bulldogs attempted to take charge, scoring two runs off a homer to left field. Continuing their momentum, Anderson scored three more runs in the top of the seventh including a homer by Barrick for Brakovec and Davis to score. The Bulldogs capped their scoring with a single in the bottom of the seventh before the Trojans secured the series victory.

Pitching all seven innings of game three and securing her fourth victory of the season was Sophomore Caroline Morgan (Silver Creek, Ga.). The Silver Creek native posted a 3.00 ERA after allowing only three runs off 10 hits from the Bulldogs.

At bat, Kinsley Dunn led the Trojans in game two after notching a double for a single RBI in her only at-bat of the game. In game two, Kadence Barrick took control over the plate with an incredible four RBI on the game after going 2-for-2, tallying two runs and a homer on the night.

The Trojans continue the 2026 postseason when they travel to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship Series on Thursday, May 7-Saturday, May 9.
