Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans rode the momentum of a gritty doubles point to a 4-1 win over UVA Wise on Friday afternoon. The Trojans are now 14-5 overall and 5-4 in the South Atlantic Conference after the win.
The first two courts split in doubles with junior
Gigi Sompayrac (Knoxville, Tenn.) and sophomore
Ensley Collins (Cleveland, Tenn.) earning a 6-3 win at court two. The point came down to senior
Alexandria Braithwaite (Oakville Ontario, Canada) and freshman
Westlyn Morris (Inman, S.C.) who won 7-6 on a 7-2 tiebreak.
Junior
Elena Ronconi (Salta, Argentina) earned a quick 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 3 position followed by SOmpayrac at the No. 2 position with a 6-2, 6-2 win over own.Â
Braithwaite won her first set at the No. 1 position 7-5 before clinching the match on her senior day with a 6-2 win in set two.
The Trojans finish out their season on the road with their second to last game at Catawba on Friday, April 10 at 1 p.m.
