ATLANTA, Ga. – The Anderson University men and women's track & field programs competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18 to close the 2026 outdoor regular season competition.
The Trojans faced a highly competitive field, including strong Division I talent, featuring top regional and Power Five programs. The Black and Gold took on the tough competition, recording two top 10 finishes with several just outside and two personal bests on the weekend.
On the women's side, sophomore
Avery Marshall (York, S.C.) was just shy of another program record, finishing ninth in the women's pole vault out of 20 vaulters after clearing the 3.62m bar. Freshman
Claire Gilliam (Simpsonville, S.C.) also finished ninth in the preliminary round of the women's high jump with a height of 1.52m. On the track, sophomore
Colette Dismukes (York, S.C.) recorded a new personal best 200m time of 25.74, crossing the line 79th out of 104 finishers.
The men were also just shy of top 10 performances on the weekend. In the men's 5000m, junior
Jack Barrett (Greenville, S.C.) finished 12th with a time of 14:50.14 followed by freshman
Grayson Gibbons (Simpsonville, S.C.) finishing 13th, stopping the clock at 14:52.54. Junior
Sean McAdams (Greenville, S.C.) posted a 20:03.40 3000m steeple time to finish 12th in the event. Sophomore
Brayden Anderson notched another career best time in the 200m after finishing with a time of 22.12, good for 64th out of 88 finishers. In the field, freshman
Avery Butler (Seneca, S.C.) finished 12th in the men's discus with a toss of 46.60m.
The Trojans will return on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30 for the South Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Emory & Henry in Emory, Va. The two-day meet will feature the conference's top athletes, each reaching for a spot on the podium.
