Dominance at Home Continues: Trojans Roll Past Coker in Senior Day Sweep

ANDERSON, S.C. –- Anderson University Softball (33-9, 16-4 SAC) wraps up a dominant 19-1 home campaign during the regular season after securing a doubleheader sweep (10-6, 19-2) against conference opponent Coker (10-28, 2-18 SAC) on senior day.

"I'm blessed to get the opportunity to coach this group of seniors." said head coach Kelly Roberts. "Since they stepped on campus their impact has been felt not only in the softball program, but across campus. I'm excited to see what they have left to accomplish this season and am going to enjoy every moment that I get to call them Anderson Softball Players!"

The Cobras opened the scoring early in the first with a homer to center field before the Trojans responded with a 4-0 run in the bottom of the second. Coker rallied in the bottom of the third to even the score before Anderson boasted three more runs including a single by senior Kinsley Dunn (Central, S.C.) and a double from junior Kadence Barrick (Phenix City, Ala.). Attempting to close the gap, the Cobras scored two more to narrow the margin by a single run. Doubles by senior Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.) and Barrick, followed by a single off the bat of senior Jenna Davis (Anderson, S.C.) helped surge the Trojans past Coker for the 10-6 victory.

Recording the victory from the circle was sophomore Caroline Morgan (Silver Creek, Ga.) who notched her third victory of the season after pitching two innings. Freshman Kora Kilgore (Smithville, Tenn.) entered the game in the final three innings, tallying two strikeouts with a perfect 0.00 ERA to notch the save and her 100th career strikeout. Barrick finished with a perfect, team-leading 3-for-3 at bat with two RBI and two runs. Hobbs followed with two RBI after going 2-for-3 at the plate.

The lineup produced early and often with the bats staying active throughout the shortened nightcap for the Black and Gold. The bottom of the first found nine runs by the Trojans with Hobbs boasting five RBI after sending one out of the park at center field and a double down the right field line. The Black and Gold added six more runs in the bottom of the second including a homer to left field by senior Lauren Brakovec (Farragut, Tenn.). Sophomore Chloe Maness (Belton, S.C.) and senior Katie Morris (Valley, Ala.) each rocketed one over the fence to bring in the final four runs of the game.

Pitching all five innings for her 10th victory from the circle was senior pitcher Carson Hobbs. The Nicholson native posted a 2.80 ERA on the game after recording four strikeouts while only allowing five hits, two runs and one walk. Hobbs also led the Trojans with six RBI after going 2-for-3 and adding a single run to Anderson's total. Manness guided the Trojans offense after going 1-for-1 at bat while boasting three RBI and three runs including her third homer of the season. Freshman Lily Davenport (Wetumpka, Ala.) also posted a perfect 1-for-1 at bat with two RBI.

The Black and Gold travel to Emory & Henry on Saturday, April 25 for their final regular season matchup of the 2026 campaign. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
