EMORY, Va. – Anderson University Softball closed its regular season on the road in a 2-3 and 6-3, eight-inning, double header split against Emory & Henry Sunday evening. The regular season slate left the Trojans with a 34-10 overall record and 17-5 in South Atlantic Conference play.
Game one for Anderson started strong with a single up the middle for senior
Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.) to bring in a single run early in the top of the first. The Trojans let up three runs in the bottom of the inning for the Wasps to rally. In an attempt to even the score, junior
Kadence Barrick (Phenix City, Ala.) blasted one out of the park to center field, rounding the bases for a single RBI.
The nightcap proved a different story, as the two sides battled into an extra inning for the Black & Gold to secure the victory. Down three runs in the top of the third, Barrick responded with her second rocket of the day to put the Trojans on the scoreboard. After a scoreless two innings, a homer by senior
Lauren Brakovec (Farragut, Tenn.) evened the score 3-3, sending the nightcap into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, the Black & Gold tallied three runs for the win including a double by freshman Bell Harbour (Murfreesboro, Tenn.).
Barrick and Hobbs each led the Trojans with two hits out of four at-bats, while Brakovec and Harbour each boasted a team-high two RBI. Earning the victory from the circle was senior
Katie Morris (Valley, Ala.). The Valley native pitched four innings for her 10th victory of the season while posting a perfect 0.00 ERA, allowing no runs and only one hit. Freshman
