Women's Tennis Season Ends In SAC Semifinals With Loss to Catawba

Box Score SUMTER, S.C. -- The Trojans' South Atlantic Conference Championships run came to an end in the semifinals on Friday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to Catawba College. The Catawba Indians came into the tournament ranked No. 1 and are currently ranked No. 7 in the national poll. 

Anderson came into the semifinals riding the momentum of their 4-2 win over Newberry College in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

The Trojans fell in the doubles point 2-0 with courts one and two suffering 6-1 losses.

In singles, the Trojans took losses at courts one, two and five leaving the rest of the matches unfinished.

Senior Alexandria Braithwaite (Oakville Ontario, Canada) fell at the No. 1 position 3-6, 4-6.

At the No. 2 position, junior Gigi Sompayrac (Knoxville, Tenn.) took 3-6, 2-6 losses.

At court five, freshman Westlyn Morris (Inman, S.C.) fell 1-6, 4-6.

The Trojans finish their season with an overall record of 17-7 and a record of 6-5 in conference play.
