CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Anderson University men and women's track & field programs grabbed four more program records and earned 12 Top 5 finishes along with 17 personal bests at the Flames Invitational this weekend.
The Black and Gold competed amongst top Div. II programs at the Flames Invitational hosted by Lee University on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11.
On the men's side, sophomore
Brayden Anderson (Yakima, Wash.) notched his second program record of the season in the 400m, posting a time of 48.09 to finish eighth out of 36 finishers. The Yakima native also recorded a 22.18 personal best time in the 200m. In the 3000m steeple, junior
Angel Galan (Santa Marta De Tormes, Spain) finished second, setting a new school record time with his 9:00.57 personal best finish. Following Galan in the steeple was freshman
Nate Powell (Johnson City, Tenn.) with a personal best finish of 9:35.34 to finish 15th.
Earning two top 5 finishes on the track was junior
Joey Tindale (Rock Hill, S.C.) with a 1:51.01 personal best 800m to finish fifth along with a third place 1500m time of 3:48.97. Freshman
Harrison Knight (Greenville, S.C.) followed behind in the 800m with a new personal best time of 1:54.03. sophomore Johnny McCoy (Easley, S.C.) turned in a third-place performance in the 400m hurdles, posting a personal best time of 56.38. The men's long jump secured two top five finishes by redshirt-sophomore
CJ Young (Clinton, S.C.) and junior
Jordan Gross (Chester, Va.) with jumps measuring 6.87m and 6.81m to finish fourth and fifth respectively.
The 1500m saw a new personal best by junior Jack Barett (Greenville, S.C.), finishing with a time of 4:09.05. Junior
Sean McAdams (Greenville, S.C.) also set a new personal best in the 5k, stopping the clock at 14:46.80.

Cullen Ussery (Kershaw, S.C.) finished with a time of 3:21.45 to take third in the event.
In the field, two Trojans boasted a new program record in their respective events. Freshman
Ryan Lee (Honea Path, S.C.) broke the men's pole vault record for the second time this season with a national qualifying height of 4.87. Freshman
Avery Butler (Seneca, S.C.) also tallied his second record of the season in the men's shotput with a distance of 15.31m to finish fifth out of 23 in the field. The Seneca native also recorded a second place finish out of 31 throwers in the men's discus with a toss of 47.12m
For the women, sophomore
Colette Dismukes (York, S.C.) notched two personal bests on the weekend with a 200m time of 26.03 and a 400m time of 59.74 to finish seventh overall. In the 1500, sophomore
Hope Edmunds (Sandy, Utah) finished with a time of 4:45.29 in the 1500m. Rounding out the personal best performances on the track was sophomore
Molly Hanlon (Cumming, Ga.) with a 12:02.96 finish in the 3000m steeple.
In the field for the women, freshman
Claire Gilliam (Simpsonville, S.C.) finished third out of 20 in the high jump with a height of 1.60m. Sophomore
Avery Marshall (York, S.C.) finished fifth in the women's pole vault after clearing the 3.47m bar. Junior
Maggie Long (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) added the Trojans final top 5 performer with a long jump distance of 5.43 to finish fifth overall. Freshman
Grace Zelenka (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded a career best in the women's discus with a toss of 32.79m.
The Black and Gold will split up next weekend with a select few Trojans traveling to Azusa, Calif. on Thursday, April 16, competing in the three-day Bryan Clay Invitational while the second group will compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.
