ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans earned a narrow 10-9 win over Newberry College (6-8, 3-4 SAC) on Wednesday afternoon to move to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the South Atlantic Conference.
The Trojans scored first but went down 4-3 in the first 15 minutes. They opened the second quarter on a 2-0 run and made things level going into halftime 6-6.
Both teams stalled in the third quarter, tying it 1-1 to remain tied overall heading into the final quarter. The Trojans went on a 3-1 run in the first five minutes of the final quarter and the Wolves were unable to bounce back all the way.
Sophomore
Megan Muir (Bedford, N.H.) had another dominant performance on both sides of the ball, tying her season-high of eight draw controls with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. On offense, she added two goals.
Junior
Ava Skeffington (Charlotte, N.C.) buried four goals on five shots. She was 2-2 from free position.
Sophomore
Sophie Shortino (Webster, N.Y.) notched two gaols with one draw control.
Freshman
Chloe Jones (Suwanee, Ga.) had one goal, two draw controls and one ground ball.
Freshman
Alannah Bowling (Richmond Hill, Ga.) rounded out the scoring for the Trojans and added one caused turnover.
The Trojans won the draw 12-9 and went 16-18 in clears.
The Trojans are back home this Saturday, April 4 when they host Lincoln Memorial at 3 p.m.
