No. 23 Trojans Fall to No. 6 Eagles on the Road

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--The No. 23 Anderson Trojans (6-3) made the trip to No. 6 Embry-Riddle (4-0) on Monday afternoon, and despite opening the game with a 2-0 lead, the Eagles ultimately came out on top 16-6.

Anderson took an early lead with back-to-back unassisted goals from the sticks of Ava Skeffington (Charlotte, N.C.) and Ellie Wilkins (Chuluota, Fla.). The Eagles got two back, before Megan Muir (Bedford, N.H.) got her name on the scoresheet, connecting off a pass from Skeffington to give the Trojans a 3-2 lead after Q1.

The second fifteen minutes of play saw ERAU tally three goals and hold Anderson scoreless for the first time this season. The Eagles took a 5-3 advantage into the break.

Following halftime, the Eagles secured one more before Sophie Shortino (Webster, N.Y.) cut the lead to 6-4 with one of her own. Another three-goal run from Embry-Riddle, however, had the scoreline at 9-4 going into Q4.

Wilkins added a pair of goals in the final quarter, but the Eagles won the period by a margin of 7-2, claiming the 16-6 victory over the Black and Gold.

Anderson totaled 18 shots to Embry-Riddle's 30, 10 of which came on from compared to ERAU's 15. The Trojans capitalized on 1-of-3 free position attempts, while conceding only 4-of-10 FPA awarded to ERAU.

In goal for AU, Rory Turner (Haverford, Pa.) recorded a season-high nine saves.

Anderson remains in Florida and will play No. 1 Flagler on Thursday (March 12.) Opening draw is scheduled for noon.
