Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Trojans earned their second South Atlantic Conference win of the season on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-2 victory over Tusculum. The Trojans are now 6-1 overall this spring and 2-1 in the SAC.
"Girls competed hard today won the doubles point and then we pulled out three of the singles," head coach
Joey Eskridge said. "It was close. It was a good Tusculum team. Just glad we got out of there with the win and heading back to Anderson."
The Trojans earned the doubles points with wins at courts two and three. At the No. 2 position, junior
Gigi Sompayrac (Knoxville, Tenn.) and freshman
Kate Johnson (Isle of Palms, S.C.) earned a 6-2 win while senior
Alexandria Braithwaite (Oakville Ontario, Canada) and sophomore
Ensley Collins (Cleveland, Tenn.) came up with a 6-1 win at No. 3.
In singles, the Trojans earned three wins while Collins' match remained unfinished.
Sompayrac clinched the match for the Trojans at court two, going to three sets after splitting 6-4, 4-6. She came up with a huge 6-2 win in the deciding set.
Sophomore
Mara Opre (Atlanta, Ga.)Â earned 6-2 and 6-0 wins at the No. 5 position.
Freshman
Westlyn Morris (Inman, S.C.) came up with 6-1 and 6-2 wins at the No. 6 position.
The Trojans are home this Friday, March 6 when they take on nonconference opponent Columbus State at 2 p.m.
