Stellar Pitching Pushes Trojans to Shutout Doubleheader Sweep of King

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University (3-0) baseball team continued its hot start to the 2026 season with a doubleheader sweep of King University (Tenn.) on Tuesday at Anderson Memorial Stadium. The Trojans posted a 10-4 victory in game one before closing out the day with a 1-0 win in game two. Strong performances from the pitching staff and timely hitting throughout the lineup keyed the day's success.

Game One: Anderson 10, King (Tenn.) 4

Anderson got contributions up and down the lineup in game one. Braeden Harrison (Spartanburg, S.C.) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored once, while Gray Wells (Chapin, S.C.) delivered three hits, including a double and two RBIs. Levi Medford (Canton, N.C.) launched a solo home run in the sixth inning and finished with two hits and two RBIs as well. Ben Bullard (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) added a pair of RBIs and scored, and Dom Bello (Orlando, Fla.) contributed a sacrifice fly and an RBI single. Myles Denton (Brentwood, Tenn.) scored twice after reaching base multiple times.

On the mound, the Trojans received a dominant effort from Caleb Costa (Mount Pleasant, S.C.), who picked up the win by going five scoreless innings and allowing just three hits with five strikeouts. Freshman Luke Godwin (Greenwood, S.C.) followed with two innings of scoreless relief to preserve the lead.

Anderson jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the second, then tacked on four in the third and three more in the fourth as multiple batters reached and scored in a balanced attack.

Game Two: Anderson 1, King (Tenn.) 0

In Game Two, the pitching staff again led the way in a pitcher's duel. Left-hander Cole Davis (Simpsonville, S.C.) earned the Win by allowing just two hits and no runs over 4.2 innings with five strikeouts. Closer Kaleb Owens (Easley, S.C.) slammed the door in the final 2.1 innings, striking out three and preserving the shutout.

Offensively, the Trojans scratched across the game's only run in the second inning. Myles Denton (Brentwood, Tenn.) doubled to left, and Dom Bello followed with an RBI single to plate him and give Anderson a 1-0 edge they would not relinquish.

The Trojans return to action this weekend as they play host to Davis & Elkins for a three-game series, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, February 7.
