ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans couldn't top South Atlantic Conference leader No. 22 Lenoir-Rhyne (23-4, 19-2 SAC) on Wednesday night in the final home game of the season. The Trojans move to 11-16 overall and 7-14 in the SAC with the loss. They currently sit tied with Newberry at No. 8 in the SAC standings.
The team shot 41.5 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from deep. They were 80.0 from the line. The Bears had the advantage on the boards 47-35.
The Trojans tried to battle back from a 46-32 deficit coming out of the locker room in the second half, winning the third quarter 24-18. It was not enough as the two teams tied 19-19 in the final quarter to give the Bears the edge.
Senior
Ashlyn Sheridan (Knoxville, Tenn.) was just one shy of her career-high with 24 points to lead the Trojan offense. She shot 9-19 with three triples, seven rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
Graduate
Ciara Harris (Alexandria, Va.) followed her up with 22 points and eight rebounds. She added three assists and four steals. She shot 6-15 with four triples and was a perfect 6-6 at the line.
Junior
Kyla Cain (Atlanta, Ga.) dropped 13 points with eight rebounds. She was an efficient 6-10 from the field.
The Trojans will close out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 28 when they take on Tusculum for the second time this season on the road. Anderson earned a decisive 81-38 win over the Pioneers earlier this season. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
