Trojans Rout Johnson C. Smith in 35-Run Doubleheader Sweep

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Softball (11-3, 0-0 SAC) notched their 10th-straight victory of the season in an 18-0 and 17-0 sweep at home against nonconference opponent Johnson C. Smith (9-0, 0-0 CIAA) Wednesday afternoon.

"I'm proud of how we competed today." said head coach Kelly Roberts. "We got great pitching performances and had some really powerful at-bats. It was a full team win from start to finish."

The Trojans' bats were hot, tallying four singles, three doubles, one triple and three homers in the first game of the double header. At the bottom of the third, Senior Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga,) sent one out of the park, driving in two runs before senior Lauren Brakovec (Farragut, Tenn.) blasted a homer to center field for two more Trojans to cross home plate. Freshman Bella Harbour (Murfreesboro, Tenn) followed with AU's final home run of the game for a single run.

Harbour led the Trojans at bat in game one, notching her fourth home run of the season, going 3-for-4, driving in two runs for a .282 batting average. Junior Kadence Barrick (Phenix City, Ala.) went 2-for-3 at bat with three runs and plating two runs. Brakovec went 3-for-3 with two runs and bringing two home. On the mound, senior Katie Morris (Valley, Ala.) picked up her ninth win of the season, tallying nine strikeouts across five shutout innings.

Early in the nightcap, Brakovec blasted her second home run of the day, driving in three, before Barrick launched the Trojans' final homer to center field in the bottom of the second to bring home two more.

Hobbs led the Black & Gold to their game two victory at bat and on the mound. At the plate, she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, recording two doubles and a triple for a .311 batting average. In the circle, she pitched three innings during the short five inning game, recording her fourth win of the season, striking out six and allowing no runs over five innings.
