ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Softball (9-3) notched their eighth-straight win in two back-to-back comebacks against nonconference opponent Converse (1-11), 5-4 and 6-5, at home Wednesday afternoon.
After two scoreless innings in the first game of the doubleheader, two plays surged the Valkyries past the Trojans 3-0 at the top of the third before Converse scored another run to extend the lead 5-0. The Trojans immediately responded in the bottom of the fourth with a single by senior
Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.) to put Anderson on the board, followed by senior
Lauren Brakovec (Farragut, Tenn.) with a grand slam to tally four RBI, allowing the Black and Gold to take the lead. The Trojans held Converse scoreless for the remainder of the game.
On the mound, pitcher
Carson Hobbs (2-1) pitched 3.1 innings for the victory, tallying three strikeouts and only allowing two hits with no runs for a perfect ERA.
Game two followed a similar script early on with no runs for either team as the contest headed into the top of the third. For a second-straight game, early momentum favored Converse with a homer to left field for a 3-0 lead. The Trojans followed up with a single run in the sixth before the Valkyries tallied two more runs in the seventh. Down by four in the final inning of the contest, the Black and Gold fired back with five runs to secure the sweep. Brakovec delivered a single for freshman

Katie Morris (Valley, Ala.) capped Anderson's scoring, securing the game-winning play with a double, allowing sophomore
Laney Price (Flowery Branch, Ga.) to score.
Pitcher
Katie Morris (5-1) snatched the victory on the mound, pitching all seven innings and recording 10 strikeouts while allowing eight hits and five runs.
"We showed a lot of heart today." said Head Coach
Kelly Roberts. "Coming from behind in both games against Converse shows the fight in this team. They never quit and kept believing in each other, and I'm really proud of the way we competed."
The Black and Gold return to play on Wednesday, Feb. 25 when they host nonconference opponent Johnson C. Smith in a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
