Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. -- The Trojans earned a hard fought 4-3 win over Erskine College to remain undefeated on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore
Ensley Collins (Cleveland, Tenn.) clinched the win for the Trojans for the second year in a row.
"It was a team win today," head coach
Joey Eskridge said. "The girls fought hard and freshman
Westlyn Morris (Inman, S.C.) won straight sets to keep us in the match when were down 3-2. And then
Ensley Collins for the second year in a row clinched at 6-3 and the third came through huge for us. It was just a good team win so looking forward to the next one."
The Trojans earned the doubles point with wins by senior
Alexandria Braithwaite (Oakville Ontario, Canada) and junior
Elena Ronconi (Salta, Argentina) at No. 2 earning a 7-5 win on the tiebreaker. Collins and sophomore
Mara Opre (Atlanta, Ga.) earned a 6-3 win at No. 3.
In singles, Braithwaite, Collins and Morris earned the wins to take the Trojans to victory.Â
Braithwaite came away with a 6-4 and 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot, and Morris finished 6-4 and a 7-6 tiebreak.
Collins clinched for the Trojans with a 6-3 win in set three after going 6-0 and 2-6 in the first two sets.
The Trojans are back home on Saturday, Feb. 21 when they host Francis Marion at 1:30 p.m.
