Box Score Morrow, Ga. – Anderson women's soccer (3-1-1, 1-0 SAC) defeated nonconference opponent Clayton State (1-2-1), 2-1, in the program's first road match of the season on Tuesday night at Laker Field.

Clayton State started the opening half strong with a goal by senior forward Amiah Sprunger-Hightower in the third minute, leading 1-0 entering the second half. The Lakers out shot Anderson 5-4 in the first half while taking four corners.
The Black and Gold responded with a stronger second half, scoring two goals in the 69
th and 78
th minute to claim a, 2-1, lead. Anderson's senior defender
Meggie Powell (Johnson City, Tenn.) erased the shutout scoring her first goal of the season in the 69
th minute. Sophomore midfielder
Ella Glenn (Simpsonville, S.C) then scored the final goal of the matchup in the 78
th minute, assisted by
Zoe Stevenson (Bluffton, S.C.). Glenn's goal was her first of the season.
The Trojans outshot Clayton State with 16 shots, seven of which were on goal, surpassing the Lakers' nine with two coming on goal.
Anderson continues their travel series on Friday Sept. 19, visiting Mars Hill (1-3, 0-1 SAC) for a conference matchup in Mars Hill, N.C. The game is slated for a 5 p.m. start.
