ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University baseball suffered a tough 4–1 loss to visiting Limestone in Tuesday's midweek matchup at Memorial Stadium. The Trojans jumped out to an early lead but were held scoreless over the final six innings as the Saints rallied late to claim the win.
Cole Davis delivered a strong start for Anderson, tossing five shutout innings and allowing just four hits with one strikeout. He left with the Trojans holding a 1-0 lead after Brooks Mauro doubled and later scored on a bases-loaded walk to Shane Thomas in the third inning. Anderson had multiple opportunities to add on, loading the bases twice and putting runners in scoring position in several innings, but left 12 stranded and couldn't break through again against the Limestone bullpen.
Limestone broke through in the seventh, capitalizing on three hits and a wild pitch to plate three runs and take the lead. RBI singles from Peter Adams, Winston Parke, and Corey Hodierne highlighted the frame. Parke added another RBI in the ninth after Adams reached on a single and advanced to third on a throwing error.
Kyle Caccamise paced Anderson at the plate with a 2-for-4 day including a double, while Mauro finished with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Anderson managed just five hits overall and struck out nine times. Defensively, the Trojans committed three errors, two of which contributed directly to Limestone runs.
Jacob Crabb took the loss in relief, while Conner Elliott earned the win for Limestone with a scoreless sixth inning. Tucker McSwain recorded the save, striking out two in a perfect ninth to seal the win for the Saints.
Anderson returns to action this weekend as they host Coker in a three-game South Atlantic Conference series beginning Friday evening at Memorial Stadium.
