Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson women's tennis (17-7, 6-6 SAC) came up just short in a 4-2 loss to No. 50 Carson-Newman (13-4, 9-2 SAC) on Friday at the Trojan Tennis Complex. The Trojans and Eagles battled through multiple weather delays before Carson-Newman emerged the victor.
In doubles, the Eagles were first on the board with wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions. When the point was clinched, AU's No. 2 team of Valentina Borda and Alexandria Braithwaite were battling despite a 5-4 deficit.
The Trojans responded in singles, earning a 2-1 lead in the match on the strength of Braithwaite and Borda's wins. Both players dropped just 3 games total in their matches, helping swing the momentum back to AU.
Facing the deficit, Carson-Newman rallied to take three competitive straight-set wins, clinching the match. At the time of the Eagles' win, AU's Gigi Sompayrac was locked in a deciding set.
