WISE, VA. – Anderson women's tennis (16-4, 5-3 SAC) extended their win streak to 4 straight matches, shutting out the UVA Wise Cavaliers (7-11, 1-6 SAC) by a 4-0 score on Saturday at the Jim & Betty Humphreys Tennis Complex. AU raced to a doubles point victory, before securing the 3 singles wins required. With the win, the Trojans moved up to the No. 6 spot in the SAC standings.

In doubles, the Trojans made quick work of the Cavaliers to get on the board first. The No. 1 team of Gigi Sompayrac and Grace Weaver and No. 3 team of Mara Opre and Elena Ronconi notched identical 6-1 wins to seal the point. Valentina Borda and Alexandria Braithwaite were on their way to a victory as well, leading 5-1 when play was stopped.

At the time when play was stopped, AU held one-set leads on the other 3 courts, including Ensley Collins sitting a single game from victory.

AU is back on the road for a midweek matchup with Newberry (10-4, 6-2 SAC) at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2. The Wolves got the better of the Trojans last season, winning 6-1 in Anderson.
