Trojans Sweep Senators in Run-Rule Shortened Contest, 13-3

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University (12-5) baseball team earned a commanding 13-3 win over Davis & Elkins (1-5) on Sunday, driven by a potent offensive performance and strong pitching. The Trojans displayed their offensive firepower, including a seven-run fourth inning, to secure their sweep of the series.

Anderson broke the deadlock in the second inning, plating two runs to respond to the single run posted by the Senators in the top of the frame. Braeden Harrison kicked off the inning with a double down the left field line that put a runner in scoring position, with Zach Stover putting runners on the corners with a single just two batters later. Brayden Owens sent a single to right field that plated one run, and a defensive miscue plated another on the same play, giving Anderson the 2-1 advantage.

The Trojans added a run third, before exploding for seven runs in the fourth. Shane Thomas started the rally with a two-RBI double with Gray Wells and Dom Bello recorded RBIs in the inning as well. Anderson wrapped up the scoring in the frame with a RBI-double by Harrison to plate another two runs, taking the 10-1 advantage.

The Senators added a run in each of the sixth and seventh innings, but the Trojans were able to bring the game to an early close as they posted three runs in the bottom of the seventh with a walk and a hit by pitch posting the first two before Harrison provided the final dagger in the day with a RBI-single to left field that gave the Trojans the 13-3 win.

On the mound, Walker Case (2-0) earned the win, tossing five strong innings while allowing just one run on four hits and striking out nine. The bullpen duo of Caleb Costa and Camden Watts closed out the game, allowing two more runs but securing a comfortable victory.

Anderson will look to continue their win streak as they head to Orangeburg, S.C. on Tuesday, March 4 in a doubleheader with Claflin.
