Anderson Falls to Lincoln Memorial in Back-to-Back Close Battles

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Anderson University (16-16, 2-8 SAC) dropped a pair of tightly contested non-conference matchups to South Atlantic Conference foe Lincoln Memorial (22-9, 6-4 SAC), falling 2-1 and 3-2 in consecutive games on Tuesday afternoon at Dorothy Neely Field.

In Tuesday's opener, the Trojans struck first in the sixth inning when sophomore Paige Vickery's sacrifice fly brought home junior Shelby Bandt. However, the Railsplitters (22-9) responded in the bottom half as Nicole Couvertie doubled in a run, followed by Alyssa Williams' RBI single to secure a 2-1 victory. Halle Grace Patton (16-4) earned the complete-game win, allowing four hits and no earned runs over seven innings, while Anderson's junior Katie Morris (8-7) took the loss despite striking out four.

In the second game, Anderson built an early 2-0 lead behind RBI singles from senior Maggie Nauck and freshman Chole Maness in the second inning. Lincoln Memorial rallied in the sixth, tying the game on Hannah McMeen's two-run triple before Williams delivered another go-ahead RBI single. Jasmine Kaylor (4-3) picked up the win, allowing two runs—one earned—on six hits over six innings, while Patton recorded the save with a scoreless seventh. Freshman Sarah DePaola (1-4) took the loss despite a complete-game effort, surrendering three runs on eight hits.

McMeen, Williams, and Jordann Reagan each tallied extra-base hits for Lincoln Memorial, while Nauck doubled for Anderson.

Anderson returns to action on Saturday when it host SAC opponent UVA Wise. First-pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1pm.
