WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Anderson senior Lacey Boozer (Simpsonville, S.C.) paved the way for the Trojans at the Camel City Sprints event hosted at the JDL Fast Track, as her 58.46 mark placed first of 62 athletes competing in the 400m dash. Boozer claimed the top spot by three-hundredths of a second over the next competitor.
"After a short turnaround from last week, today went well," said Head Track & Field Coach Caleb Stephenson. "We had some really good performances and are looking forward to continuing to progress."
Senior Simeon Respress (Cornella, Ga.) continued his year of success in the long jump event. Respress finished 7th of 44 athletes, posting a mark of 6.85m. He was joined in the competition by Jordan Gross (Chester, Va.) (6.20m), David Brown (Menomonie, Wis.) (6.02m), Tyler Farris (Dacula, Ga.) (5.56m) and Nick Shaw (Anderson, S.C.) (5.20m).
Also shining for the Black and Gold was sophomore Cullen Ussery (Kershaw, S.C.), who finished 14th of 79 competitors in the men's side of the 400m dash. One of six Trojans competing in the events, Ussery boasted a 52.04 mark, followed by freshman William Wright (Sumter, S.C.) at 53.00, senior Ben Molitor (Pelzer, S.C.) at 53.02, freshman Brayden Anderson (Yakima, Wash.) at 53.32, freshman Ethan Linder (Spartanburg, S.C.) at 55.38 and freshman Johnny McCoy (Easley, S.C.) at 55.43. Both Linder and McCoy's times were PRs.
Freshman Mackenzie Moretina (Kansas City, Mo.) finished 13th of 54 athletes in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 9.32s. She was followed by Jessa Kindel (Easley, S.C.) (9.81s), Abby Kwasny (Winston-Salem, N.C.) (10.08s) and Ally Macurda (Charlotte, N.C.) (10.12s). Macurda's time was a personal best.
