Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson women's tennis (10-3, 0-2 SAC) dropped their conference home opener on Wednesday afternoon at the Trojan Tennis Complex, 4-2 at the hands of the Coker Cobras (4-1, 1-0 SAC).
The Cobras struck first by winning the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions, both by 6-2 scores. AU's No. 2 team of Valentina Borda and Alexandria Braithwaite were locked in a tight battle and trailing 4-5 when play was halted.
Coker continued their momentum into singles play, building a 3-0 lead. After Cobra victories at No. 1 and No. 5, the Trojans fought back.
Senior Valentina Borda notched AU's first point of the day with a 7-5, 6-1 triumph at the No. 2 spot, and Alexandria Braithwaite kept the momentum going. Her 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 4 position inched the match closer at 3-2.
Coker secured the final point with a straight-set win at No. 3, ending play. Junior Grace Weaver had just split sets in her match prior to the stoppage.

AU hits the road for a matchup with the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters on Saturday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m. in Harrogate, Tennessee. Last season, the Trojans defeated LMU by a 5-2 score in Anderson.
