HICKORY, N.C. – Anderson women's tennis (10-2, 0-1 SAC) was defeated 4-2 in their first match of SAC play on Saturday afternoon at the YMCA of Catawba Valley. The Trojans battled the Bears for almost two and a half hours but came up just short.

In doubles, Lenoir-Rhyne claimed the opening point of the match with wins at the No. 1 and 2 positions. Between those courts finishing, freshmen Ensley Collins and Mara Opre rolled for a 6-3 win the No. 3 position, their third of the spring.

The Trojans fought back on the singles court, as Collins and Opre dropped just seven games between them. AU led the dual 2-1, before the Bears added wins at the top three spots in the lineup. Junior Alexandria Braithwaite led 1-0 in the third set when the match was clinched.
