ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University softball (7-5) earned its second sweep and its fourth win in a row defeating nonconference opponent UNC Pembroke (3-10) on Monday afternoon at the AU Softball Complex.
Anderson's junior
Katie Morris (3-2) pitched a solid complete game shutout. Morris gave up only three hits while striking out four batters to set the tone for the day.
Senior
Maggie Nauck broke the game open in the third inning with a three-run home run scoring senior
Maddie Carpenter who singled and sophomore
Paige Vickery after she reached drawing a walk. The Trojans tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning to put the Black and Gold up, 5-0.
AU outhit the Braves, 7-3, while leaving 12 runners on base to UNC Pembroke's four.
Game two featured 21 combined hits with the Braves narrowly edging out the Trojans with 11. Freshman

Carson Hobbs each collected two hits with Crosby recording two doubles. Adding to the double total for the game, Hobbs, junior

Chloe Maness had a double apiece. Sophomore
Paige Vickery hit a timely three-run home run in the fourth to put the Trojans ahead for good, 8-7.
Anderson scored an insurance run in the fifth inning while holding the Braves scoreless over the final two innings to claim the sweep.
Hobbs pitched the final 4.1 innings to earn the victory. She scattered four hits while striking out two.
Anderson returns to action tomorrow when it travels to nonconference opponent Converse. First-pitch of doubleheader is scheduled for 1pm.
