BOSTON -- Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Kevin Eagle and a group of Trojan distance-athletes traveled to Boston this weekend to compete in a pair of elite meets in the area. The Trojans raced in the mile, 3000m and 5000m events amidst highly competitive fields at the David Hemery Valentine Invitation hosted at Boston University and the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted at Massachusetts Institution of Technology.
The men's events at BU took place on Friday, with Elliot Dotson (Greenville, S.C.) and Joey Tindale (Rock Hill, S.C.) running the mile and Spain Vaughan (Greer, S.C.) the 5000m. Tindale posted a personal best time of 4:09, followed by Dotson who fought back from tripping up while getting tangled among competitors mid-race to record a time of 4:17. Later in the evening, Vaughan ran his personal best 5K with a 14:21 mark.
On Saturday, Tindale and Dotson went on to compete in the 3K event at MIT, where Tindale ran for 8:37, followed by Dotson at 8:44 to finish 1st and 2nd in the race.
Over at BU, Kennedy Roush (Greenville, S.C.) continued to build her season resume, besting her own standing school record in the indoor 5000m race. In December, at Boston's season opener, Roush outperformed the standing school record by more than 30 seconds with a time of 17:06. Today, she beat that record and finished 2nd in her heat, running for 17:01.
Anderson will compete once more next Saturday (Feb. 22) at the JDL Last Chance Meet before the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships on March 1-2.
