ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University softball (5-5) used big first innings in a pair of games to defeat nonconference opponent Emmanuel (1-4), 5-0, and, 9-7, on Monday afternoon at the AU Softball Complex.
In game one, the Anderson exploded for all five of their runs in the bottom half of the first inning to defeat the Lions. Five different Trojans collected hits to push across the runs with senior
Maddie Carpenter drilling a double to claim three RBI. Junior
Katie Morris (2-2) earned the complete game victory giving up just three hit while striking out six.
The Lions scored two runs to open game two with Anderson responding with four runs of its own. After five innings of play the game was knotted up at five apiece. The Lions score two runs in the top half of the inning with AU responding with four runs to go ahead, 9-7. The Black and Gold held the Lions scoreless it their final at-bat to claim the win.

Paige Vickery each had a multiple hit game. Bandt and Vickery, along with junior
Lauren Brakovec hit doubles to help AU cap off the victory. Freshman
Caroline Morgan (1-1) earned her first career win pitching four innings.
Anderson returns to action on Sunday when it host nonconference opponent UNC Pembroke. First-pitch of the doulbeheader is slated for 1pm.
